Today, our topic will be " NEM" ( or in different way is " CHA GIO").

I remember this was my mom's favorite dish when I was at home and I didn't like it that much. Well, however now, it's my turn, I seem like it a lot.

All the ingredients like meat, crab meat, cat mushroom, ... I can easily find here at any Asian grocery, but for the transparent rice wrapper, I still like the one from Vietnam most because it's so crispy and thin. So my mom has to send those papers to me every year! This is totally my homemiiiie style NEM.

Bún Riêu


Yeh, the best thing of Oriental grocery in Jean Talon is I found a package of " CUA DONG XAY" that I can make my delicious Hanoi Bún Riêu style! Yummmmmmmmmmieee! and I am so proud that I could host a Bún Riêu dinner with my friends and they really enjoyed it! so what next...! Ba'nh đa cua maybe!

Isn't it yummy! Green tea soft ice cream that I found of OH Joy! blog. This makes me want to buy the ice cream maker right away!

Hommi style steak!

It's getting a little chill here, montreal! A little early fresh cold air spreads through the town and my little nest where I need to put on some clothes to keep me warmer. The green is around still and the autumn color has not yet come,still, there is a lot of warm feeling inside the house, a lot of food inspiration comes up.

so what else is greater to heat up our kitchen than a piece of steak. The heat, the color, the smell, the touch of a juicy tender steak will make our dinner completed.




Cupcake first time maker!

It has been a while that I can have a such motivation to do the bakery. For long, I am always a big loser in making cakes or any sweeten food. After watching people made cakecups on TV, I am totally down for the show and start searching for the recipes how to make cupcake and decoration. There is thousand and thousand of recipes and videos, I am happy to say the baking part is my success. I got my coconut cupcake right my first time cook. However, I still cannot trust all the sources that I watched on Youtube ( which took me 3 times to make the perfect ice frosting cream decore) Which means, i had to combine all people's methods and make my own out of it.
First time, it was too grainy and soft "melting" ( because the video showed to add too much milk). Second time, I added less milk but still too soft that I cannot do the decor. And finally, the last time, I found out a very important key step that most of the video missed to show and made my almost beautiful frosting cream. Still, the frosting is too sweet compared to our Asian taste, I need to find a way to make it less sweet next time...more research...and hope that my decor skill will be improved next time. Well, at least, I got what I wanted, a Flower Cupcakes bouquet- which I made for my little friend's birthday last night!

Missing home, missing street side food! No matter how good I cook, my food cannot get the same taste as hometown's one. Being here but my soul is somewhere else, what i am gonna do?





Gorgoux summer day!

Last weekend, we had an awesome day with friends in Oka beach! Great food and drink! Sunny and cool! We took like thousand photos around the beach, so imagine how excited we were! There are not many beautiful days left for this summer so my plan is to come up with a plan for every single day! Sound crazy huh? Let's see!
